About the role
Operators decide whether a wheel loader returns 20,000 hours of reliable service or 8,000 hours of grief. Every litre of fuel saved, every cycle time shaved, every avoided hydraulic over-pressure event traces back to how the operator was trained on day one, and how they were retrained after the first six months.
As Operator Trainer for the Pune region, you own that outcome for SDLG India in western Maharashtra, Goa and northern Karnataka. You will work closely with our Pune dealer, regional service hub and the Bangalore product team to turn machine knowledge into operator behaviour change.
What you'll do
- 01Run hands-on operator certification programmes for SDLG L-series wheel loaders, E-series excavators and G-series motor graders across western Maharashtra customer sites.
- 02Build and update training curricula in coordination with the Bangalore product team, fuel-efficient operating techniques, daily checks, hydraulic load management.
- 03Run new-machine handover sessions for every L940Hi, L956Hi and L960Hi delivery in the region (~120 deliveries / year).
- 04Partner with regional service engineers to convert recurring failure patterns into operator coaching content.
- 05Mentor 4 junior trainers and run a quarterly train-the-trainer cycle for dealer staff.
- 06Own the Pune training centre, 6,500 sq ft, 4 demo machines, classroom for 30 trainees.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years operating wheel loaders, excavators or motor graders in mining, ports, road construction or material handling.
- Demonstrable record of training others, formal certifications, dealer training, in-house programmes.
- Diploma or degree in mechanical, automobile or mining engineering preferred. Equivalent field experience considered.
- Working knowledge of CEV-Stage V hydraulics, electronic engine management and BS6 emission systems.
- Marathi, Hindi and English fluency required. Additional regional languages a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% within Maharashtra, Goa and northern Karnataka.
Nice to have
- Experience with electric construction equipment (battery management, charging cycles).
- Familiarity with telematics platforms and operator-behaviour analytics.
- Exposure to NSDC-aligned skill certification frameworks.
